George Kaelin

George joined the firm in 1994 and became a partner in 1998. His practice focuses on real estate, business, and civil litigation matters.

He has a broad range of experience in the following areas:

• Business disputes
• Partnership / tenant-in-common structures
• Eminent domain law

Successful Representation

He has published numerous articles and spoken publicly on redevelopment and mobile home park closure law. George served as co-trial counsel in Earle v. Wong in which his clients obtained an $11.7 million verdict against park owners who attempted to improperly close a mobile home park.

George has successfully represented both sides in eminent domain matters:

• He serves as counsel for business and property owners when a public agency acquires private property for a public project.
• He represents San Diego Gas and Electric, whenever a utility project requires acquisition of real estate rights through eminent domain.

George currently serves as outside general counsel for the Better Business Bureau of San Diego and Orange counties. He has served on the board of directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in San Diego and as chair of the San Diego County Bar Association, Eminent Domain section.

George graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego and received his Juris Doctor from the University of California at Davis. He received the San Diego Trial Lawyers’ Association Outstanding Trial Lawyer award in 2001.
